Since my baby was born, I am looking for baby toys and thought that I should buy him. But I can not help but notice that so many toys seem like they are designed to be surrogate parents "You get the toy that" reading stories "that are turned to" soothe the child to sleep and I can not help but think that this is the mom or dads work. Not all battery-operated toy. My husband and I are not rich, but even if we were, I'd like to think that the work reading stories and teaching ABC or numbers are our business and our baby will be much happier to have our attention on him rather than buying expensive pieces of plastic while we devote our attention elsewhere. Maybe I'm being old fashioned here, but I can not help but think that it's my job to teach my son to read and count and soothe him to sleep. What are your views on this? Thank you. Basically – Your instincts are correct. Come on, if possible, sound and light non-traditional toys. There is nothing wrong with the occasional "lights up toy," but they should not be a pillar of the education of your son. Incidentally. I bought Early Learning Centre magnetic letters – the kind you put on the fridge, in small letters when my daughter was 1 year. It is now known almost all of his alphabet – I would say.. M for Mom, for Dad d, p for Peter (a friend she loves) ect.. They are tactile and maluable – (before you all start abusing me for spelling I can not remember how bloody fate.) Good luck PS Remember not to get caught up in the thing to biological parenthood. You can be bullied into spending too much money..
